The 2008-09 school year marked the first time Illinois students concerned about the environment could make a “green” housing choice. Presby Hall was proudly built according to the LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Gold standard, and includes a ground source geothermal heating and cooling system. Internationally, the move toward LEED and green building practices has been driven in large part by benefits such as more efficient use of key resources, healthier work and living environments, contributing to higher productivity and improved health and comfort for residents and employees. The fundamental reduction in relative environmental impacts and economic benefits of green building helps our residents feel even more comfortable and at home at Presby Hall.
